Training Programs

The section members of Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation are actively involved in a multitude of education activities. Section members are regularly invited speakers at conferences, seminars, and symposia around the state and country. The section is responsible for training medical students, residents, graduate students, and fellows, providing ACGME-accredited support for the UAMS College of Medicine residency programs in Pediatrics, Medicine-Pediatrics, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. (The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education

(ACGME) is responsible for the accreditation of post-MD medical training programs within the United States. Accreditation is accomplished through a peer review process and is based upon established standards and guidelines.)

Developmental Behavioral Pediatric Fellowship Program
There is an ACGME-accredited fellowship position available in Developmental/Behavioral Pediatrics.A Developmental Behavioral Pediatric Fellowship Program has been certified to train three pediatricians over a three year period in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics and has been successful in recruiting a second fellow to begin 1 July 2008. A third fellow will be recruited for the following year to begin graduating a fellow each year with a subspecialty in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics.

The Leadership and Education fellowship Program
The Arkansas LEND and LEDBP programs located on the campus of Arkansas Children’s Hospital are directly supported by the UAMS Department of Pediatrics, the Association of University Centers of Disabilities (AUCD), University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) and the state’s Title V organization. The Arkansas LEND and LEDBP programs are a part of a national network of similar collaborative programs comprised of a wide range of faculty and experts with the sole purpose to improve the health of infants, children and adolescents with disabilities through training and education.
