Health Advisory

UAMS Head Start/Early Head Start program is committed to providing quality child development services to infants, toddlers and preschoolers.  The Health Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) is established to ensure the overall health development of the children enrolled.  HSAC members will advise and guide UAMS HS/EHS staff in health issues and the development of health-related policies pertaining to the children, families, and staff of the program.

The Health Service Advisory Committee explores health issues that affect the children, families, and staff of UAMS Head Start and Early Head Start.  The committee revises and approves policies and procedures that affect the way the health services program staff will function. 

Community members shall be recommended by the Head Start staff and/or other persons in the community and then presented to the HSAC for approval.  Members of the committee will be community health professional representing the following disciplines:  Medical, Disabilities, Mental Health, WIC program, Maternal and Child Care Services, Nursing, Dental, Nutrition, Public Health, Human Services, Optometry, Audiology, Education, a parent, and staff.

The officers of this organization shall be Chairperson, a Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, and Parliamentarian.  These four officers shall make up the Executive Committee.

The HSAC members meet quarterly from August thru July each year.  It is mandatory that all members attend the May and August meetings to revise and approve policies and procedures.
